   $31,805.00 - $58,848.00 Annually

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

UNDER DIRECT SUPERVISION, THE AUDITOR ASSISTS IN AUDITS & ENGAGEMENTS OF FISCAL ACTIVITIES OF STATE AGENCIES AND/OR INSTITUTIONS TO DETERMINE THE FAIRNESS OF FINANCIAL STATEMENTS, COMPLIANCE WITH STATE & FEDERAL LAWS, & THE ALLOWABILITY OF REPORTED COSTS OF MEDICAID PROVIDERS. PERFORMS PROFESSIONAL AUDITING DUTIES AS AN INDEPENDENT, EXTERNAL AUDITOR IN ACCORDANCE WITH GENERALLY ACCEPTED AUDITING STANDARDS PROMULGATED BY THE AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS & THE US GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY OFFICE. THE AUDITOR WILL LEARN TO APPLY ACCOUNTING & AUDITING SKILLS WHILE WORKING AS PART OF A TEAM ON A VARIETY OF ENGAGEMENTS.

MINIMUM AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

A BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, ACCOUNTING, OR FINANCE. UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE MUST INCLUDE 24 CREDIT HOURS OF ACCOUNTING COURSES, 12 OF WHICH MUST BE JUNIOR-LEVEL COURSES OR ABOVE. ONLY APPLICANTS WITH GOOD ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE WILL BE CONSIDERED. ABILITY TO USE 10 KEY CALCULATOR & PERSONAL COMPUTER TO PREPARE WORKPAPERS & SUMMARIZE RESULTS OF REVIEW & TESTING OF BOOKS & RECORDS OF AUDITEES. GENERAL KNOWLEDGE OF PRINCIPLES & PRACTICES OF ACCOUNTING & AUDITING. ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE, ORALLY & IN WRITING, & TO ESTABLISH & MAINTAIN EFFECTIVE WORKING RELATIONSHIPS WITH PEERS, SUPERVISORS & AUDITEES. MUST BE ABLE & WILLING TO TRAVEL OVERNIGHT UP TO FOUR NIGHTS PER WEEK & PROVIDE OWN TRANSPORTATION TO THE AUDIT SITE. THIS POSITION INVOLVES 15-30% IN STATE, OVERNIGHT TRAVEL. A VALID DRIVER’S LICENSE, GOOD DRIVING RECORD & RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION. MUST RESIDE WITHIN COMMUTING DISTANCE TO COLUMBIA.
